* Alief ISD Graduates of the Class of 2008 received more than $35 Million in scholarships and grants!                         21 of the Alief ISD campuses are rated as “Recognized” or “Exemplary,” according to the Texas Education Agency.                  ­Alief ISD witnessed double-digit gains in reading, math, and science TAKS scores at our high schools this year.                           District wide, we improved in each of the TAKS subject areas tested.  Our gains exceed the state average.                      The majority of Alief ISD TAKS scores outpace the state numbers and continue to rise! 
 
 


Students are sculpting award-winning work

     Five Hastings High School Art students have been received 2009 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo awards for their 3-D art – sculptures. Gracie Nguyen, Norma Zavala, and Kathy Maldonado received “Best of Show” awards and Paola Hernandez and Yazmin Herrera received “Gold Medal” honors.  

     All five young ladies are in the running for additional honors to be announced at the awards ceremony in March. Including the 2-D artwork, seven Hastings art students are in the running for top awards, along with additional $15,000.00 scholarships, Junior Glassel School classes and several Kerrville Cowboy Museum 10-day summer program opportunities.
